Last summer, I headed to Lafayette to go to work on my first studio album. 11 tracks.
Since then, I've flown to Nashville to mix it with my buddy and amazing dude Paul Kintzing. We're still putting the final touches on it. I can't wait to let you hear what the band has been working on.
In the interim, I'm working on a limited edition run of a collection of our first three EPs—Friendly, Central Discount and All But Gone.
The collection is called Whatever, Sorry and features all 18 tracks from said EPs on one disc.
More information on the release will be coming soon.
For now, we are excited to announce a slate of shows this Spring.
3/28 — with Mahayla at Chelsea's Cafe, Baton Rouge
4/12 — Blue Moon Saloon, Lafayette
5/24 — with Maker's Reel at Mud and Water, Baton Rouge
More details, flyers and info coming soon. Thank you for being patient.

From the depths of the studio
| This is Aaron Thomas, the producer/engineer/madman/guy who puts up with me. He calls this the Sasquatch pose. |
—Matthew McConaughey
Well, the album is almost completely recorded. We've got the skeleton for 11 tracks down, and it's sounding great.
Now, we're going to overdubs and getting the final takes down.
We had Andrew Toups of Feufollet and numerous other great bands come in to lay down some keys on a few tracks.
Jonathan Loubiere threw down some bass, and Lee Barbier will provide some hot guitar solos in the coming weeks.
We'll have more updates for you coming soon, a video of the sessions and some live dates.

Band FB roll!
| Matt from junior high football says: listen to these damn bands, ya hear? |
Like us and listen, would ya?
The Widowers
The Diane Lanes - rock of the highest order from Loubie, Lee Barbier, Spencer Johnson, and me on drums. We are playing tomorrow night (March 30) at Mud & Water.
Dov Charney - a noisy trio consisting of Loubie, Lee Barbier, and me on drums.
Arabian Safari - Paul Kintzing and I doing pretty much doing whatever we want.
German Error Message - Paul Kintzing's always-beautiful bedroom music. His new album will be out in April, and trust me, it's amazing.
The Its — Bridget Gary's pop-rock band that I sometimes rock the drums for. We are playing next Saturday in New Orleans, which should be a good time. I'll have more info on that show soon.
Childrens Church — my solo project
The Tomatoes - Will Doon's rock trio which has an amazing new EP out, dubbed Into the Blackout.
I'll be posting some of our good friends in the next days that you should check out, too! If you're into Twitter, my handle is @MatthewSigur. Here is my tumblr as well.
Childrens Church gets high praise in DIG Baton Rouge
While living in Lafayette, I worked on some different style recordings with my good friend Paul Kintzing (of German Error Message and Arabian Safari).
The project is called Childrens Church, and the debut EP is now available on bandcamp for name your own price. To hear it, click here.
Randy Faucheux of DIG Baton Rouge calls the EP "bedroom music with cabin fever." Check out the full review here.
If you enjoy Childrens Church, you can expect more tunes before the end of the year. Paul and I have tons of songs we didn't put on this release, and we're working on some more stuff right now.

Mmmm....newsbites
We're back, baby. Err.. we never left, but anyway....
We'll be performing live with Elsah and Bobcat at Northgate Tavern on Saturday, May 5.
Pretty excited about the show. We've been working on some new tunes, including "Green Tea" and a brand new jam entitled, "Love Song (In the Key of Who the Fuck Cares)."
The band will be headed to the studio this summer, doing a few songs which may or may not be featured on our upcoming Singles Collection — more info on that coming soon.
Don't forget about our latest release, the double a-side, featuring "Roach Motel" and "Saturday City Lights," which is available now at this link.
In other news, Loubie and I have been moonlighting in a rocking-ass four piece, entitled Teen Hustle. Do check out their three-song debut EP, One Hundred Beers of Solitude. It's badass and free, unless you wanna donate some money to that cause.
Also, what do you think about this little design on the bottom here for a t-shirt? Do tell!
